Karen Moody
Distinguished Alumnus

                                                     

Karen is the President and Owner of the Mill Inn of Sheridan.

Karen graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1967 with a B.S. in mathematical statistics, in 1968 with a M.S. in Economics, and graduated cum laude in 1971 with a B.S. in accounting.

                                                                                                                                        

After graduating with her accounting degree, Karen went to work at Price Waterhouse & Company in Denver as part of their professional audit staff.  A year later, she moved to Sheridan where she started her CPA practice.

In 1992, Karen purchased the Mill Inn, a motel that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Originally constructed in 1920-21, the Sheridan Flouring Mills was one of the most important early commercial enterprises in Sheridan, Wyoming.  In 1974, ConAgra closed the milling operations and sold the property which was subsequently remodeled into the Mill Inn.

In 2006 Karen was elected president of the Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association.  The American Hotel & Lodging Association recognized her as a "most valuable volunteer" for her contributions to the success of the hotel industry.

Karen and her husband, Torrey, have two children, Mandy Phillips and Pete Moody.
