A football player for the Wyoming Cowboys, Tom graduated from UW's College of Business in 1973 with a B.S. in business administration. Following graduation, Tom began his financial services career. He spent 20 years in Colorado with Norwest Bank and its predecessor, United Bank of Denver. In 2000, Tom was named president and CEO for Wells Fargo Bank's Colorado/Wyoming and Montana region, and in 2003, his region was expanded to include Utah. In 2006, his region was expanded again, and now also includes Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois. Tom is active in the community. He is chairperson for Saint Joseph's Hospital Foundation and former chairman of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Tom serves on the board of directors for the Children's Hospital, Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, University of Wyoming Foundation, Denver Art Museum, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and the Denver Area Boy Scouts. Tom and his wife, Dianne, have two grown daughters, a son who is a freshman in college, and a new grandson. They have included the College of Business in their philanthropy, and have established the Thomas and Dianne Honig Endowment for Business Ethics and Corporate Governance. The College of Business is truly honored to recognize Tom as a College of Business Distinguished Alumnus. |
