 On-Campus MBA Requirements
A faculty admissions committee chaired by the Director of the MBA program will review applications. Application to the program is open to students who have a four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited university. Admissions preference will be extended to candidates who are involved in joint-degree programs from other UW schools and colleges, to candidates who have completed a baccalaureate degree in a professional technical field (e.g., engineering) in the preceding semester, and candidates with 3-4 years of post-baccalaureate work experience. Students with a baccalaureate degree in a business discipline or general business are eligible for the program but will not be allowed to waive any of the modular core courses.
Applicants must provide academic transcripts, GRE or GMAT test results, two letters of reference from research active faculty at their institutions and one letter of reference from an active business professional, and an essay that describes and justifies their career objectives. In the case of joint degree and professional technical field applicants a third letter of reference from a research active faculty member can be substituted for the letter from an active business professional. Applicant interviews (preferably in person) may be required. Entry requirements include minimum GRE scores of 1200 or a minimum GMAT scores 600, with a minimum score of 34 on the verbal section and 37 on the quantitative section (note: the GMAT exam will be the preferred entrance exam, but the GRE is acceptable). Other entry requirements include GPA's above 3.0, strong letters of recommendation, and a well-written and informative essay. Students whose native language or education is not in English must submit a TOEFL with a minimum score of 600 (250 computer-based score; 100 internet based exam). No exceptions for students from other UW colleges and schools seeking joint degrees.
