Teams of student entrepreneurs won prizes to advance their business ideas during the recent 24th annual John P. Ellbogen $50K Entrepreneurship Competition at the University of Wyoming. The College of Business competition encourages students to act on their talents, ideas and energy to produce tomorrow’s leading businesses. Teams were eligible to receive funding from the endowed prize ($50,000), the Top Submission Awards (three categories) and the High School Choice Award. Additionally, during the college’s SparkTank event April 25, three other awards were provided: the Ethical Startup Award, the Jon Benson Award for Best Ability to Positively Impact Wyoming and the $50K EEC Winner Spotlight Presentation Award.
The University of Wyoming Alumni Association (UWAA) has announced a new mountain design for UW license plates, which are Wyoming specialty plates. Wyoming law requires the license plate design change every eight years, with the new version readily distinguishable from the previous one.
The new license plate design represents the beauty of Wyoming’s iconic mountain ranges, featuring a silhouette similar to that in the end zones of Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium.
In April, thousands of UW alumni and current UW plate owners voted for their favorite design.
The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust has granted nearly $1.6 million to the University of Wyoming College of Health Sciences to train Wyoming health care professionals on state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment as part of a statewide ultrasound initiative.
The initiative includes nearly $13.9 million to help Wyoming hospitals and health centers purchase ultrasound imaging devices and boost sonography and point-of-care ultrasound training opportunities across the state. UW’s Wyoming Point-of-Care Ultrasound Training Initiative (WY-POCUTI) both broadens the scope of training in specialty ultrasound and bolsters access to and the quality of point-of-care ultrasound services.
